TRM launches 2025 Sovereign Collection
The Royal Mint has unveiled its 2025 Sovereign Collection,commemorating the 200th anniversary of Jean Baptiste Merlen’s Royal Armsdesign, first introduced on the Sovereign coin in 1825. This milestonecollection features a remastered version of Merlen’s iconic shield design,coupled with the official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III,marking the first time these two elements appear together on a Sovereign coin.
The 2025 Sovereign Collection encompasses a range of coins,including the Five-Sovereign Piece, Double-Sovereign, Sovereign,Half-Sovereign, and Quarter-Sovereign, all struck in 22-carat rose gold.Notably, this release represents the final year that The Royal Mint willproduce Sovereigns in rose gold, with a transition back to traditional yellowgold planned for 2026.
